How we confirm the exact part: KSB Ama-Drainer parts depend on the size, motor rating, single-phase or three-phase motor, free passage, material variant (A, C or R) and whether a float switch and cooling jacket are fitted. The part numbers shown are KSB part numbers from the operating manual’s parts lists; your nameplate carries the type designation (e.g. AmaDrainer A 422 ND/35) and the serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.
Models
Parts are available across the Ama-Drainer 4 / 5 range; the number after the material letter on your nameplate (e.g. AmaDrainer A 422 ND/35) gives the discharge size and motor rating, and the figure after the slash is the free passage. The sizes below are those listed in KSB’s Ama-Drainer 4 / 5 manual.

From KSB’s Ama-Drainer 4 / 5 operating manual (designation key and declaration of conformity). Each size is built single-phase (E) or three-phase (D), with or without float switch. Fluid temperature up to 40 °C continuous, 90 °C for up to 3 minutes. KSB states that keeping spare parts in stock is not necessary for this range.
Troubleshooting
Pump runs but does not deliver
Likely cause: pump or piping not completely vented, or the pump intake clogged by deposits. Action: clean the vent hole in the pump casing (part no. 101) and clean the intake, pump components and lift check valve.
Flow or head too low
Likely cause: supply line or impeller clogged, or wear of internal components. Action: remove deposits from the pump and piping and renew worn components such as the impeller (part no. 230).
Pump clogged or flow falls away
Likely cause: sand or dirt in the pump sump, or insufficient inflow. Action: clean the intake, strainer, pump components and check valve, then drain and clean the pump sump.
Excessive current or power input
Likely cause: dirt or fibres between casing wall and impeller, a sluggish rotor, or low operating voltage. Action: check whether the impeller can be easily rotated and clean the hydraulic system; check mains voltage and cable connections.
Motor stops and restarts by itself
Likely cause: the winding temperature switch has tripped the pump because of excessive winding temperature. Action: let the pump cool down so it restarts automatically, and check for clogging, low level or operation outside the duty point.
Noise or vibration in operation
Likely cause: a defective radial bearing in the motor, or wrong direction of rotation on three-phase units. Action: check the electrical connection and control system; renew the bearing set (part no. 99-11) if the bearings are worn.
