Spare Parts List

✓ Tick the parts you need. KSB GIW slurry pump parts are matched to the pump type, size, impeller, wet-end materials, shaft seal and bearing assembly, so the type designation and serial number on your nameplate are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.

SelectWear / Service ItemFunction & when to replace
Common Service Kits
Impeller (part no. 230)The double-shrouded 4- or 5-vane impeller. KSB GIW says replace it only when it can no longer produce enough head for the duty; never repair by welding.
Suction Liner (part no. 13-19)The adjustable suction-side liner facing the impeller nose. Rotate it 180° at half-life if wear is localised; renew the snap ring gasket and O-ring with every new liner.
Radial & Thrust Roller Bearings (part nos. 322, 324)Radial roller bearings (322) and the spring-loaded spherical roller thrust bearing (324) in the cartridge bearing assembly. Replace on rising temperature or noise and test the oil for contamination.
Bearing Assembly Gasket KitListed in KSB GIW’s recommended bearing assembly spares. Fit a new kit, with the end-cover V-rings (411), whenever the bearing housing is opened.
Shaft Seal Assembly Packing (part no. 461)Packing rings for the throat bushing, KE, forward flush or SpiralTrac™ stuffing box. Renew when leakage can no longer be held by gland adjustment; buy in the correct imperial or metric size.
Wear & Consumable Parts
Hub Liner (part no. 13-21)The drive-side liner on pumps built with an open hub and hub plate/liner assembly. Replace with the suction liner when worn through or gouged.
Pump Casing (part no. 101)Single-piece high-chrome white iron casing. Listed as an operational spare; repair or replace it when localised gouging is deep. Do not weld white-iron wear parts.
Shaft Sleeve (part no. 524)The sleeve that runs in the shaft seal. Supplied with its gaskets and O-ring (412); fit two aramid paper gaskets between sleeve and impeller to ease impeller removal.
Shaft Seal Wear Plate (part no. 135)The wear plate at the rear of the stuffing box, fitted with a gasket. Listed by KSB GIW as a major-maintenance shaft seal spare.
SpiralTrac™ Throat Bushing (part no. 458)The throat bushing installed ahead of the packing (standard on MDX). Renew at major shaft seal maintenance or when seal water demand rises.
Snap Ring Gasket (part no. 40-2)Seals the suction liner and casing joint. KSB GIW advises a new snap ring gasket whenever a new suction liner or pump casing is fitted.
Mechanical Seal (faces & O-rings)For pumps with a mechanical shaft seal. KSB GIW lists the seal faces and O-rings as major-maintenance spares; renew at the first sign of leakage.
Other Core Parts
Impeller Release Ring (part no. 501)The segmented ring behind the impeller that lets it break free from the shaft threads. Fit a new assembly or hardware once the ring has been cut or broken out.
Suction Plate (part no. 16-1)Carries the suction liner and its adjusting fasteners. Replace if cracked, distorted or damaged at the feet or liner fits.
Hub Plate (part no. 16-2)Supports the hub liner on open-hub builds. Replace if cracked or distorted so the liner seats correctly.
Shaft (part no. 210)The bearing assembly shaft, in one of eight shaft sizes (3-15/16 to 11-1/2 in). Replace if the threads, seats or keyway are damaged.
Bearing End Cover (part no. 361)End covers carrying the labyrinth seals, V-rings and throwers that keep slurry and water out of the bearings. Replace if damaged or if clearances are lost.
Shaft Seal Assembly Gland (part no. 452)Compresses the packing in the shaft seal assembly housing (451). Replace if cracked or worn so the packing can be adjusted evenly.

How we confirm the exact part: KSB GIW MDX parts depend on the pump size, shaft size, plug type, bearing assembly type (LEF or conventional), seal type, liner and impeller options on your pump. The part numbers shown are KSB GIW location codes from the MDX maintenance manual; your nameplate carries the designation (e.g. MDX 150x150-650) and the serial number, which KSB GIW asks for with every parts order. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.

Models

The MDX designation reads discharge x suction (mm) – impeller diameter, then option codes; the digit after the impeller diameter is the shaft size code (e.g. 650.5 = 5-7/16 in). Select your bearing assembly shaft size below or choose “Not sure”.

From the KSB GIW MDX maintenance manual (Tables 4-1, 9-1 and 10-4). Example designation from the manual: MDX–150x150-650.5 G L B T MM 5 L. The manual prints no full size list; wet-end parts are matched from the pump size on your nameplate.

Troubleshooting

Low flow rate or pump losing head

Likely cause: blocked suction or discharge piping, a clogged impeller, air entrainment or worn wet-end parts. Action: clear the blockage, vent and prime the pump and piping, reset the nose gap, and fit a new impeller or liner if head can no longer be met.

Motor overload

Likely cause: high fluid density or viscosity, excessive flow from a lower-than-expected system head, or speed too high. Action: check the duty against the design, reduce speed or adjust the system, and contact us with the pump details for a review.

Bearing temperature rise

Likely cause: bearing failure, the wrong lubricant quantity or type, a misaligned unit, or hot or insulating conditions around the bearing assembly. Action: replace the bearings and test the lubricant for contamination, correct the lubricant and alignment, and clear dirt from the bearing assembly.

Excessive shaft seal leakage

Likely cause: wrong packing material or adjustment, seal water pressure too high or low, or worn shaft seal parts. Action: adjust the packing or seal water pressure, and renew the packing, shaft sleeve or other worn seal parts as needed.

Operating vibration

Likely cause: insufficient suction head (NPSHA), low-flow operation, piping resonance, a misaligned unit or worn, damaged or loose parts. Action: raise the sump level and open suction valves, avoid running below 30% of BEP flow, check pipe supports and alignment, and renew worn parts.

Pump overheating

Likely cause: running against blocked discharge or suction piping, or low-flow operation. Action: shut the pump down immediately, remove the blockage or open the valve, and increase the flow rate before restarting.
