Spare Parts List

✓ Tick the parts you need. Masport HD1 parts are matched to the build on the nameplate (V vacuum/pressure or F vacuum only) and the serial number, so those details are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.

Common Service Kits
HD1 & H1 Replacement Parts KitMasport’s rebuild set for the HD1 and H1: vane pack, bearings, bearing spacers, oil seal, end cover shims and gaskets. The one order to make when the pump is opened for worn vanes or a bearing that has run rough.
Vane Pack (item 22)The sliding vanes that sweep air through the HD1 cylinder; they have an offset bevel that goes against the bore with the leading edge facing rotation. Replace the pack once vanes measure 1 7/16" (36.5 mm) or less, or show frayed or concave edges.
Masport All Seasons Pump OilNon-detergent rotary compressor oil made for Masport pumps and fed to the HD1 through its two drippers. Top up the reservoir about every 10 running hours; never use motor oil, ATF, hydraulic or gear oil.
Masport Flushing FluidCleaning fluid drawn through the pump with a Flushing Kit to clear carry-over and stop rust. Flush weekly, before storage, and straight after any liquid or solids have reached the pump.
Wear & Consumable Parts
Oil Seal 25 x 40 x 8 (item 5)Seals the single drive shaft where it leaves the end cover. Fit it spring side towards the bearing bore and renew it at every rebuild, or sooner if oil weeps at the shaft.
Shim End Cover .002" (item 20)Shim gaskets between cylinder and end covers that set rotor end float at 0.003–0.005". Count the ones removed (marker holes show thickness) and fit the same number of new shims.
Dripper (item 9)Adjustable sight-feed oilers built into the HD1 reservoir, set for at least 6 drops a minute once the pump is warm. Replace one that will not hold its setting or whose sight glass is cracked.
Oil Reservoir Lid Gasket (item 17)Seals the lid of the integrated oil reservoir to the cylinder casting. Renew it whenever the lid is lifted or if oil seeps around the lid edge.
Sight Glass ½" (item 18)Lets you check the oil level in the HD1 reservoir at a glance. Replace a crazed, cloudy or leaking glass so the level can be read before each load.
O-Ring (item 19)Two O-rings listed in the HD1 parts list, shown beside the end cover in the exploded view. Fit new ones whenever the parts they seal are taken apart, as a hardened ring lets oil escape.
Other Core Parts
Rotor Assembly (item 13)The slotted rotor with integral stub shafts, machined and balanced as one unit; never separate the shafts. Replace if cracked after a seizure or if the vane slots are too worn to dress with a file.
Cylinder (item 14)The pump body and bore (4.72" as made), with the oil reservoir cast on top. Scoring deeper than .005" means a rebore, to no more than 4.76"; past that the cylinder is replaced.
End Cover (item 12)Carries the bearing and oil seal at each end of the rotor. Light rotor contact can be lapped out; grooves deeper than .005" or a bearing bore that has spun need a new cover.
Oil Reservoir Lid & Cap (items 16, 2)The top plate that closes the HD1 reservoir and carries the drippers, plus the screw-on filler cap. Replace if cracked or if the cap no longer seals.
Dowel Pin 6 x 24 (item 11)Locate the end covers on the cylinder and so hold the seal gap between rotor and bore. Replace any pin bent during cover removal; oversize pins are used if the gap is reset.
Frost Plug (item 21)The cup plug shown at the closed, non-drive end cover in the exploded view. Fit a new one if it weeps oil or is disturbed during a bearing change.

How we confirm the exact part: Item numbers and codes on this page are as printed in the HD1 parts list of the Masport HD1, HD2 & HD3 owner/operator manual. The model tag riveted to the pump gives the model (for example HD1, or H1F on older pumps) and the serial number, and the serial matters because Masport changed some parts at serial breaks between the H and HD generations. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the right parts for your pump.

Models

The model and serial number are on the Masport pump model tag riveted to the HD1 (item 10 in the parts list). The HD1 is built vacuum only with one drive shaft; the earlier H1 (H1F) uses the same Replacement Parts Kit 14613.

Codes as printed in the Masport HD1, HD2 & HD3 owner/operator manual (90357; HD1 exploded view and parts list, Replacement Parts Kit table). Bearings and bearing spacers have no separate code in the HD1 list and come in Kit 14613; spacers go on with the large chamfer towards the rotor and are not reusable. Manual figures: 1,250–1,750 rpm input, drawing 1.2 hp at 1,250 rpm and 1.8 hp at 1,750 rpm when pulling 27"Hg; bore 4.72" (rebore limit 4.76"), seal gap 0.0015", end float 0.003–0.005"; minimum 6 drops a minute per dripper at 15"Hg and above; vacuum relief no higher than 20"Hg continuous at sea level for air-cooled pumps. Oil: Masport All Seasons Oil or an approved non-detergent rotary compressor/turbine oil. Air flow figures are on the Masport HD1 brochure.

Troubleshooting

HD1 running hot

Likely cause: low or empty oil reservoir, the wrong oil, or the drippers set below 6 drops a minute. Action: fill with Masport or approved non-detergent oil and reset both drippers (item 9) with the pump warm.

Overheating at normal vacuum

Likely cause: speed above 1,750 rpm, a clogged inlet filter or exhaust, plumbing under 1" I.D. or a pump caked in mud. Action: check the drive speed, clean the filter and exhaust path, upsize the plumbing and wash the pump so it can shed heat.

Rotor will not turn

Likely cause: a broken or jammed vane, a failed bearing, foreign material in the bore or a drive fault. Action: isolate the drive, open an end cover and inspect the vanes (item 22) and bearings; fit Kit 14613 if either is damaged.

Seized after a cold night

Likely cause: moisture left in the pump has frozen between the vanes and the cylinder. Action: thaw the pump before starting, then flush with Masport Flushing Fluid and run it for a few minutes after each day’s work.

Slow to pull vacuum

Likely cause: vanes worn short, a worn shaft oil seal, or leaks in the tank, traps or hoses. Action: measure the vanes against 1 7/16", renew the oil seal (item 5) and leak-test the system.

Vacuum drops away mid-job

Likely cause: a collapsed suction hose, liquid carried over into the pump or an inlet filter loading up. Action: replace the collapsed hose, drain the traps, flush the pump and clean the inlet filter.
