Spare Parts List

✓ Tick the parts you need. Masport HD3 parts are matched to the build on the nameplate (V vacuum/pressure or F vacuum only) and the serial number, so those details are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.

Common Service Kits
HD3 Replacement Parts KitThe HD3 service set from Masport, holding the vane pack, both bearings and their shaft shims, oil seals, end cover shims and the valve and flange gaskets. Order it for a full vane and bearing overhaul; the older HXL3 takes kit 14638 instead.
Vane Pack (item 16 HD3V, item 17 HD3F)The HD3’s radiused vanes, installed with the curved edge running on the bore. Measure them at least yearly and replace the full set below 1 11/16" (42.9 mm) or if any edge is frayed, bent or worn concave.
Masport All Seasons Pump OilMasport’s own non-detergent vane pump oil. The HD3 needs the highest drip rate of the three small HD pumps, so keep the remote tank topped up and use only Masport or an approved compressor oil.
Masport Flushing FluidRun through the HD3 from a Flushing Kit at the end of the working week, and whenever trap carry-over has got in, to lift out sludge and leave a rust-inhibiting film before storage.
Wear & Consumable Parts
Oil Seal 25 x 40 x 8 (item 3 HD3V, item 4 HD3F)Lip seals in each HD3 end cover, keeping oil in and air out at both shaft ends. Fit with the spring facing into the bearing bore; worn shaft seals are a listed cause of lost performance.
Shim End Cover .001" and .002" (items 13, 14)Thin shim gaskets that set end float, which on the longer HD3 rotor is 0.004–0.006". Match the marker-hole type and count you took out, then check with a dial gauge before refitting the vanes.
Gasket – Valve (item 5, HD3V)The pair of gaskets under the HD3V four-way valve body. Fit new ones each time the valve comes off the cylinder or the seal gap is reset.
Gasket – Flange (item 17.17 HD3V, item 1 HD3F)Seals each 1½" port flange, and on the HD3F the two blank flanges too. Use new gaskets whenever a flange joint is broken.
Valve Cap Gasket & Wave Washer (items 17.3, 17.4, HD3V)Seal and spring the cap that holds the spool in the HD3V valve. Replace them together at a valve service or if air escapes around the cap.
Non-Return Valve (item 17.11, HD3V)A check valve fitted inside the HD3V valve body. If it sticks partly shut the pump loses output, so clean or replace it when loading slows without obvious leaks.
Dripper (item 20.8 HD3V, item 19.8 HD3F)The two adjustable oilers feeding the HD3 end covers, set warm to no less than 8 drops a minute. Replace a leaking or unadjustable dripper, and any cracked oil line, straight away.
Other Core Parts
Rotor Assembly (item 21 HD3V, item 20 HD3F)The HD3 rotor and stub shafts, machined and balanced together and never to be split. Replace if cracked, typically after a seizure, or if the slots are damaged beyond light dressing.
Cylinder (item 18 HD3V, item 23 HD3F)The HD3 housing with a 6.77" bore, coded separately for valve and vacuum-only builds. Corrugation or scoring past .005" calls for boring and honing, up to 6.81" at most.
End Cover (item 19 HD3V, item 18 HD3F)Supports the rotor bearings and seals at each end. Lap light scuffing against the opposite cover; replace or resurface one with grooves past .005" or a bearing that has spun in its bore.
Valve Body & Spool (items 17.1, 17.2, HD3V)Forms the HD3V four-way valve, giving vacuum, neutral or pressure through a quarter turn. Replace if the body cracks or the spool no longer seals between ports.
Valve Handle & Indicator Washer (items 17.14, 17.15, HD3V)Operates the valve spool, with the reversible washer marking the vacuum and pressure directions. The installer sets its orientation; replace it if the markings are worn or misleading.
Oil Tank & Dripper Housing (items 20.6, 20.7 HD3V; 19.6, 19.7 HD3F)The remote-mounted 1.5 quart (about 1.4 L) reservoir and the housing that holds the drippers and dip tube. Replace if cracked, contaminated or leaking at the dripper clamp.

How we confirm the exact part: Item numbers and codes are as printed in the HD3V and HD3F parts lists of the Masport HD1, HD2 & HD3 owner/operator manual, and the two builds number some items differently. The model tag shows whether you have an HD3V or HD3F and gives the serial number, which also separates the HD3 from the HXL3 (kit 14638, its own parts from serial Q07076). Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the right parts for your pump.

Models

Look for the Masport pump model tag (item 8) riveted to the HD3: it carries the model with its V or F suffix and the serial number. The V build has the four-way valve with a handle on top; the F build has plain inlet and outlet flanges.

Codes from the HD3V and HD3F parts lists and the Replacement Parts Kit table in the Masport HD1, HD2 & HD3 owner/operator manual (90357). HD3F vane pack: the HD3F list prints 975536, which is the HD2 vane pack code, while the HD3F shares rotor 969233 with the HD3V (vane pack 968236); we confirm the HD3F vane pack against your serial before ordering, and Kit 14653 covers both builds either way. Bearings and their shaft shims are not coded separately and come in Kit 14653. HD3 figures from the manual: 1,250–1,750 rpm input; 3.9 hp at 1,250 rpm and 6.5 hp at 1,750 rpm at 27"Hg, 9.0 hp at 15 psi and 1,750 rpm; bore 6.77", rebore limit 6.81"; end float 0.004–0.006"; seal gap 0.0015"; minimum 8 drops a minute per dripper at 15"Hg or higher; 1½" port flanges 968159 (blank flanges 975476 on the HD3F). Air flow figures are on the Masport HD3V brochure.

Troubleshooting

HD3 overheats

Likely cause: oil supply short of 8 drops a minute per dripper, an empty tank, or an unapproved oil such as motor oil or ATF. Action: refill with Masport All Seasons Oil, check the oil lines are flowing and turn the drippers up once the pump is warm.

Temperature climbs on long jobs

Likely cause: continuous work above 20"Hg or 10 psi, input speed outside 1,250–1,750 rpm, a dirty pump or a restricted exhaust. Action: check and reset both relief valves, bring the drive back into the speed range, wash the pump down and clear the exhaust and oil separator.

Rotor locked up

Likely cause: a broken vane, a collapsed bearing or grit in the cylinder. Action: remove an end cover and inspect the vanes, bearings and bore; rebuild with Kit 14653 and check the bore for scoring.

Will not turn on a frosty start

Likely cause: ice inside the cylinder from water left after the last load. Action: thaw it out, flush the pump and run it a few minutes before shutdown in cold weather.

Poor vacuum on an HD3V

Likely cause: the valve handle short of the full vacuum position, worn vanes or worn shaft seals. Action: move the handle fully over, measure vanes against 1 11/16" and replace the oil seals if they leak.

Output down with no obvious fault

Likely cause: a non-return valve that will not open fully, a blocked inlet filter, a collapsed hose, leaks, or liquid that has entered the pump. Action: check the non-return valve (item 17.11), clean and dry the inlet filter, inspect hoses and joints, and flush the pump.
