NETZSCH M-Ovas Cutting-Plate Macerator
Spare Parts for M-Ovas Universal Cutting Plate Macerators
Product Summary
Genuine and compatible spare parts for the NETZSCH M-Ovas® universal cutting plate macerator, used across Australia ahead of pumps in biogas plants, wastewater and sludge lines and organic waste processing. Both sizes share the same build (a carbide-edged cutter head running against a hardened, reversible cutting plate, with an integrated separator that traps stones and metal), so tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to your nameplate (e.g. M-Ovas S 4.0/300).
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. M-Ovas cutting parts are matched to macerator size and cutting plate hole size, so your nameplate model and serial number are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work out the parts for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Cutting Plate | The hardened, finely ground perforated plate that sets the particle size. It can be turned to use both sides; replace when both faces are worn and solids pass through coarse. | |
| Cutting Blades (Carbide Edges) | The positive-fit carbide cutting edges on the cutter head that shear material across the plate. Replace when chipped or rounded, ideally with the cutting plate. | |
| Cutter Head (Milling Head) | The hardened steel head that carries the cutting blades. Replace if the blade seats are worn or the head is damaged by a hard object. | |
| Mechanical Seal | Single mechanical seal with hard-metal faces and quench that keeps product out of the drive. Replace at the first sign of leakage or quench contamination. | |
| O-Ring & Gasket Set | O-rings and gaskets for the housing, cover and separator openings. Renew whenever the cutting chamber is opened. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Bearings | The reinforced drive unit bearings that carry the cutter head. Replace if noisy, running hot or showing shaft play. | |
| Drive Shaft | Shaft carrying the cutter head. Replace if worn at the seal or head seat, or bent after a hard-object strike. | |
| Separator Cover & Clean-out Parts | Clean-out cover, drain fittings and seals on the integrated heavy-material separator that collects stones and metal. Replace if damaged or leaking. | |
| Drive Motor / Gear Motor | Drive unit matched to your macerator size and supply. | |
| Reversing Control Unit | Optional control that reverses the cutter head to clear a blockage. Repair or replace if the macerator stops instead of auto-clearing. | |
| Housing | The macerator housing with ANSI or DIN PN16 flanges, galvanised or optional stainless steel. Replace if cracked or corroded through. | |
| Complete Replacement Macerator | When a rebuild doesn’t stack up, we quote a like-for-like M-Ovas from the model on your nameplate. | |
How we confirm the exact part: M-Ovas parts depend on macerator size, cutting plate hole size and housing material. Your nameplate carries the model (e.g. M-Ovas S 2.2/50) and the serial number NETZSCH uses to trace the original build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact macerator.
Models
Spare parts are available for both published M-Ovas sizes and their build options; the second number in the model (e.g. S 4.0/300) is the nominal flow in m³/h.
Models & Key Specifications
| Model | Flow (m³/h) | Pressure drop (bar) | Max. pressure (bar) | Flanges |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M-Ovas S 2.2/50 | 50 | 0.05 | 1 | ANSI / DIN PN16 |
| M-Ovas S 4.0/300 | 300 | 0.12 | 1 | ANSI / DIN PN16 |
All sizes: hardened, reversible cutting plate in a choice of hole sizes, carbide-edged steel cutter head, single mechanical seal with hard-metal faces, reinforced drive bearings, integrated separator with clean-out and drain openings, galvanised housing (stainless optional), serviced in place without removing pipework; further sizes on request.
Troubleshooting
Particles coming through too coarse
Likely cause: blunt or chipped cutting blades, or a cutting plate worn on its working face. Action: turn the cutting plate to its unused side if not already done; replace the cutting blades, and the plate once both faces are worn; check the hole size suits the downstream pump.
Macerator blocks or stalls
Likely cause: rags or fibrous material packing the plate, a full separator, or blades too worn to shear cleanly. Action: isolate and clear the cutting chamber; empty the separator; replace worn blades; fit or check reversing control to clear jams automatically.
Stones or metal damaging the cutter
Likely cause: the heavy-material separator is full or not emptied often enough, so hard objects reach the cutter head. Action: empty the separator through the clean-out port on a regular schedule; inspect the cutter head, blades and plate for chips and replace as needed.
High pressure drop or falling flow
Likely cause: a part-blocked cutting plate, a full separator, or a hole size too fine for the solids load. Action: clean the plate and separator; check for rag build-up; consider a coarser cutting plate if blockages recur.
Leaking at the shaft seal
Likely cause: worn seal faces from grit, or the quench running low or contaminated. Action: check and top up the quench; replace the mechanical seal and O-rings if leakage continues.
Noise, vibration or motor trips
Likely cause: worn drive bearings, a hard object in the cutting chamber, or the cutter head rubbing on a damaged plate. Action: isolate and remove any foreign object; check bearing condition and cutter head clearance; replace bearings, blades or plate as needed.
