NETZSCH NEMO BY Pumps
Spare Parts for NEMO BY Progressive Cavity Pumps
Product Summary
Genuine and compatible spare parts for the NETZSCH NEMO BY progressive cavity pump, the compact block-construction design with a directly flanged gearmotor, used across Australia for wastewater sludge, polymer and chemical dosing, food processing and mining slurry duties. Every BY from the tiny NM003 to the NM148 shares the same build (rotor, stator, coupling rod with joints and a mechanical seal), so tick what you need and we’ll match the exact parts to your nameplate, such as NM045BY02S12B.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. NEMO wear parts are matched to pump size, rotor/stator geometry, stator elastomer and joint type, so the full model code on your nameplate is all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Stator | The elastomer-lined pumping element and the part that wears most. Replace when flow or pressure drops away, after any dry run, or if the elastomer has swollen, hardened or torn. | |
| Rotor | The hardened or coated helical rotor that turns inside the stator. Replace if the coating is worn through, scored or pitted; a worn rotor will chew out a new stator quickly. | |
| Joint Service Parts | The set of joint wear parts for both ends of the coupling rod: pins, bushes, joint sleeves, clamp rings and joint oil. Fit at every rotor/stator change or when the joints knock. | |
| Mechanical Seal | The standard single-acting, bi-directional mechanical seal (cartridge and double seals to order). Replace at the first sign of leakage at the drive end of the suction housing. | |
| Gasket & O-ring Set | Stator gaskets, housing O-rings and seal O-rings in an elastomer to suit the product. Renew whenever the pump is opened. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Coupling Rod | Transmits drive from the shaft to the eccentric rotor. Replace if the bores are worn oval, the rod is bent, or corrosion has attacked it. | |
| Drive Shaft / Plug-in Shaft | The plug-in shaft that connects the gearmotor to the coupling rod and carries the seal. Replace if worn under the seal or damaged at the joint end. | |
| Suction Housing | The inlet casing that holds the joints and seal. Replace if eroded, corroded or cracked, matched to your connection standard. | |
| Pressure Branch | The discharge end casing that clamps the stator. Replace if worn or cracked, or when changing connection size. | |
| Stator Tie Bolts | The bolts that clamp the stator between the suction housing and pressure branch. Replace if stretched or corroded. | |
| Gearmotor | The directly flanged geared motor. Matched to your kW, output speed and flange so the replacement bolts straight on. | |
| Complete Replacement Pump | When a rebuild doesn’t stack up, we quote a like-for-like NEMO BY from the model code on your nameplate. | |
How we confirm the exact part: NEMO BY parts depend on pump size, number of stages, rotor/stator geometry, stator elastomer, rotor material, joint type and seal. Your nameplate carries the model code (e.g. NM045BY02S12B) and the pump serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.
Models
Spare parts are available for every NEMO BY size in the NETZSCH range; the three digits after NM on your nameplate (e.g. NM045BY) are the pump size.

All sizes: four rotor/stator geometries, mechanical seal as standard, suction lift up to 9 m water column, reversible direction of rotation; capacity is proportional to speed. Larger flows and other sizes on request from NETZSCH.
Troubleshooting
Stator wears quickly or burns out
Likely cause: dry running (even for a few seconds), too high a liquid temperature for the elastomer, or abrasive solids at too high a speed. Action: fit a new stator (and rotor if scored); never start the pump empty, fit dry-run protection such as a stator temperature sensor, and confirm the elastomer and speed suit the duty.
Pump hard to turn or trips on start after a stator change
Likely cause: stator swelling from an elastomer that is not compatible with the product or cleaning chemicals, or high break-away friction in a new tight stator. Action: check the elastomer against the product and its temperature; fill the pump before start-up (a little glycerine on a new stator helps); if the stator has swollen, replace it in a compatible elastomer.
Low flow or loss of pressure
Likely cause: worn rotor and stator, air drawn in on the suction side, a blocked suction line, or speed too low. Action: check the suction line and seals for air leaks and blockages and confirm the speed; if output is still down, replace the stator (and the rotor if its coating is worn).
Knocking or noise from the suction housing
Likely cause: worn joint pins and bushes or a split joint sleeve letting product in and joint oil out. Action: strip the joints, renew the pins, bushes, sleeves, clamps and joint oil as a set, and replace the coupling rod if it is worn at the bores.
Leaking at the shaft seal
Likely cause: worn or cracked seal faces, often from dry running or abrasive solids, or a perished seal O-ring. Action: replace the mechanical seal and its O-rings, and check the drive shaft for wear under the seal. Fit dry-run protection if the seal has run dry.
Damage after a blocked or closed discharge
Likely cause: over-pressure: a positive displacement pump keeps building pressure against a closed valve or blockage until something fails. Action: measure the actual discharge pressure against the nameplate rating, clear the blockage, inspect the stator, joints and seal, and fit a pressure relief or pressure switch on the discharge.
Gearmotor runs hot or trips
Likely cause: high viscosity or over-pressure loading the drive, a swollen stator, or worn gearbox bearings. Action: check the discharge pressure and motor current, inspect the stator for swelling, and check the gearbox oil and bearings.
