Sandpiper S05 Non-Metallic Pumps
Spare Parts for Sandpiper S05 ½" Non-Metallic Air-Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps
Product Summary
Genuine OEM spare parts for the Sandpiper S05 Non-Metallic ½" air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pump, the small polypropylene or PVDF ball-valve pump used across Australia for acid and caustic transfer, chemical and polymer dosing in water treatment, and drum and tote unloading. Wet End Kits in six diaphragm/ball options, the 476.219.000 Air End Kit, check balls, valve seats, outer chambers and manifolds are all listed in the S05 Non-Metallic parts list, so tick what you need and we’ll match them to a nameplate such as S05B2P1PPNS000.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. Sandpiper S05 Non-Metallic parts are matched to the pump's model code (wetted, diaphragm/valve and non-wetted material codes), so the full model number on your nameplate is all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Wet End Kit (polypropylene or PVDF) | Sandpiper’s fluid-side rebuild set: diaphragms, check balls, check valve seats and PTFE seals for your wetted material. Fit one when a diaphragm has failed or the pump has lost suction lift. | |
| Air End Kit (476.219.000 / 476.220.000) | Rebuilds the air side with the air valve assembly, pilot valve assembly, seals, O-rings, gaskets and retaining rings. Use 476.220.000 on pumps with the stroke indicator pin air valve. | |
| Diaphragm (items 15, 16) | The flexing membrane that separates air from product, listed in Santoprene, polyurethane, nitrile and one-piece bonded PTFE, plus a PTFE overlay (286.096.600) that rides on a Santoprene backup. Change both sides together after a rupture or at service intervals. | |
| Check Ball (item 2) | Four solid balls form the suction and discharge check valves. Swap all four if the pump cycles but will not prime, or the balls are flattened, swollen or chemically attacked. | |
| Check Valve Seat (item 34) | The seats the balls close against, in PVDF, polypropylene or 316 stainless. Renew when flow falls away and inspection shows grooving or erosion on the sealing face. | |
| Wear & Consumable Parts | ||
| Check Valve Seat Seal (item 33) | PTFE seals either side of each seat that stop product bypassing the check valves. Fit new ones every time the manifolds come off to service the balls or seats. | |
| Manifold Seal (item 32) | Seals the manifold to the elbows on centre-ported pumps. Change it if the pump weeps at the manifold joints or after the manifolds have been removed. | |
| Diaphragm Bumper (item 6) | Cushions the inner diaphragm plate at the end of each stroke and sits in the Air End Kit. Renew if it is split, flattened or hard. | |
| Air Valve Sleeve and Spool Set (item 1-B) | The matched sleeve and spool that switch air between the chambers; they are ground as a pair and cannot be mixed. Replace if the pump stalls, short-cycles or blows air through the exhaust. | |
| Pilot Valve Assembly (item 3) | Signals the main air valve to shift at the end of each stroke via its sleeve, spool and O-rings. Service or renew it if the pump cycles once and stops or runs erratically. | |
| Muffler (item 23) | Quietens the exhaust air. Replace a muffler that is iced, clogged or soaked with product, as a blocked exhaust will slow or stop the pump. | |
| Gaskets, Air Inlet / Pilot Valve / Air Valve (items 19–21) | Seal the air inlet, pilot valve and main air valve to the centre section. Fit new gaskets with the holes lined up whenever the air valves are serviced; a misfitted gasket can stop the pump after one cycle. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Outer and Inner Diaphragm Plates (items 26, 27) | Clamp the diaphragm to the rod; the outer plate is wetted (612.091.520 PVDF or 612.091.552 poly) and one-piece PTFE builds take inner plate 612.221.330. Replace plates that are cracked, worn sharp or fitted backwards. | |
| Diaphragm Rod (item 30) | Links the two diaphragms through the centre section so they stroke together. Replace if it is scored where it runs through the rod seals or bent. | |
| Outer Chamber (item 14) | The moulded fluid chamber on each side of the pump. Replace if it is cracked, crazed by UV or chemical attack, or the diaphragm sealing face is damaged. | |
| Manifold (item 22) | Suction and discharge manifolds carrying the ½" ports, in NPT or BSP tapered (E suffix) threads; inline-ported poly pumps use manifolds 518.201.552 and 518.202.552 instead. Replace if a thread is stripped or the body is cracked. | |
| Suction and Discharge Elbows (items 17, 18) | Join the outer chambers to the manifolds and hold the check valve seats. Replace a cracked elbow or one with a damaged seat bore. | |
| Intermediate Bracket (item 4) | The centre section housing the diaphragm rod, rod seals and pilot valve plungers. Replace if cracked or if the rod or plunger bores are worn. | |
How we confirm the exact part: item and part numbers on this page are as printed in the Sandpiper Model S05 Non-Metallic service manual (Design Level 2), where the last three digits of each part number give the material. The model code on your nameplate sets the build; for example S05B2P1PPNS000 is a ½" ball-valve pump with polypropylene wetted parts, Santoprene diaphragms and balls, polypropylene seats and housing, and NPT standard porting. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts.
Models
Read the S05 model code left to right: S (Sandpiper), 05 (½"), B (solid ball), 2 (design level), then wetted material (K PVDF, N Nylon, P polypropylene), diaphragm/ball code (1, 2, B, U or Z), seat (P, S or K), non-wetted material, porting, pump style (S standard, I inline), pump option and kit option. The builds below follow that nomenclature.

Troubleshooting
Pump cycles once and stops
Likely cause: the system is deadheaded at supply pressure, the air valve or intermediate gaskets are fitted out of line, or a pilot valve actuator plunger is bent. Action: raise the inlet air pressure (the pump works at a 1:1 ratio at zero flow), refit the gaskets with holes aligned and check the plungers.
Pump will not run at all
Likely cause: too much lubrication, not enough air volume, a dirty air valve, a blocked muffler or a blocked discharge. Action: set the lubricator to minimum or remove it, check the air line size against demand, clean the air and pilot valves and clear the muffler and discharge line.
Pump cycles but will not prime or pump
Likely cause: suction-side cavitation or air leaks, a check ball stuck or missing, worn balls or seats, or more than 20 ft (about 6 m) of suction lift. Action: move the pump closer to the product, tighten suction gaskets and pipework, clear the check valves and renew worn balls and seats; prime the chambers with liquid on high lifts.
Pump runs sluggish or stalls
Likely cause: an iced muffler, clogged manifolds, over-lubrication or an air supply that exceeds what the system head can take. Action: de-ice and refit the muffler, fit a point-of-use air drier, clean the manifolds and turn the inlet air pressure and volume down.
Product coming out of the exhaust
Likely cause: a ruptured diaphragm, loose diaphragm plates, or a diaphragm stretched around its centre hole. Action: fit new diaphragms, inspect and retighten the plates, and check inlet and air pressures and chemical resistance before restarting.
Diaphragms keep failing early
Likely cause: cavitation, too much flooded suction pressure, a diaphragm material that does not suit the product, or plates fitted backwards or worn sharp. Action: upsize the suction line, reduce the flooded head or fit a pulsation dampener, choose a diaphragm from the chemical resistance guide and fit new plates the right way round.
