✓ Tick the parts you need. Sandpiper S15 parts are matched to the pump's model code (wetted, diaphragm/valve and non-wetted material codes), so the full model number on your nameplate is all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.

SelectWear / Service ItemFunction & when to replace
Common Service Kits
Wet End KitSandpiper’s fluid-side overhaul set for the S15: two diaphragms (plus PTFE overlays where fitted), four check balls and four valve seats in your elastomer. The quickest way to restore suction and flow after a diaphragm failure.
Air End KitRebuilds the air side: air valve and pilot valve assemblies with seals, bumpers, gaskets, plunger and O-rings. Separate kits for aluminium, cast iron and stainless centres, and 476-170-558 for the stroke indicator valve.
Diaphragm (item 16)The flexing membrane that separates air from product. Inspect for cracks, stretching at the bolt holes or chemical attack; change both sides together, and at once if product shows in the exhaust.
Check Ball (item 2)The four balls that open and close the suction and discharge valves. Change them when they are worn undersize, flat-spotted or swollen, or when the pump cycles but will not prime.
Valve Seat (item 34)The seats the balls close against, listed in polyethylene, PTFE, carbon steel, stainless, aluminium and elastomers. Replace when the sealing edge is worn or eroded; metal and PTFE seats need seat O-rings (item 27).
Wear & Consumable Parts
Seat O-Ring / Seal (item 27)Seals each valve seat into the manifold and outer chamber. Fit new ones whenever the seats are disturbed, or if the pump leaks at the manifold joints or loses suction.
Diaphragm Bumper (item 6)Cushions the inner diaphragm plate at the end of each stroke. Renew if it is split or flattened, typically at a diaphragm change.
Air Valve Sleeve and Spool Set (item 1-B)The ground sleeve and spool that switch air between the two chambers. They are matched to a set clearance, so change them as a pair if the pump stalls, short-cycles or leaks air from the exhaust.
Pilot Valve Sleeve, Spool & O-Rings (items 4-B to 4-E)The small valve that signals the main air valve to shift. Worn sleeve or spool O-rings (560.033.360, 560.023.360) cause erratic or stalled cycling; inspect and renew them when the air end is serviced.
Muffler (item 1-G / 43)Quietens the exhaust air. Clean or change it if blocked or iced up, and look for product in it as a sign of a ruptured diaphragm.
Air End Gaskets (items 18–21)Seal the air valve (360.093.360), pilot valve (360.114.360), air inlet cap (360.104.379) and inner chambers (360.105.360). Fit new ones on reassembly with the holes lined up, or the pump may cycle once and stop.
Diaphragm Rod Seal & Plunger Parts (items 33, 7, 30, 31)Rod seals stop air bypassing along the diaphragm rod; actuator plungers, bushings and retaining rings trip the pilot valve. Sandpiper recommends fresh retaining rings whenever the plungers are serviced.
Other Core Parts
Outer & Inner Diaphragm Plates (items 28, 29)Clamp the diaphragm onto the rod. Replace if bent, scaled or worn to a sharp edge on the outer plate, which cuts diaphragms; the one-piece bonded diaphragm uses its own through-hole inner plate.
Diaphragm Rod (item 32)Links the two diaphragm assemblies through the centre section. Replace if scored or marked, as surface damage wears the rod seals and bushings.
Suction & Discharge Manifolds (items 22, 23)Carry product into and out of the valve chambers. Listed in aluminium, cast iron and stainless with NPT, BSP tapered and ANSI/DIN or welded 150# flanged versions; replace if eroded, cracked or corroded.
Outer Chamber (item 14)The wetted chamber on each side of the pump that holds the seats and product. Replace if worn through, pitted or cracked at the bolt flanges.
Intermediate Bracket & Inner Chambers (items 5, 15)The centre section that houses the pilot valve, plungers and rod seals. The Midsection Conversion Kit 475-215-000 swaps an aluminium midsection for cast iron components.
Air Valve Assembly (item 1)The complete main air distribution valve, e.g. 031.227.000 for aluminium centres or 031.229.000 for cast iron and stainless. Fit a whole assembly if the body is damaged or the bores are worn.

How we confirm the exact part: item and part numbers are as printed in the Sandpiper S15 Metallic (Design Level 1) service manual, where the last three digits of each part number give the material. Your nameplate model code sets the wetted material, diaphragm/check valve elastomer, seat, centre section and porting; for example S15B1ABWANS000 is an aluminium S15 with nitrile diaphragms and balls, UHMW seats, painted aluminium centre and NPT ports. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.

Models

Read the S15 model code left to right: S, size 15, check valve type (B ball or W weighted ball), design level 1, then the wetted material (A aluminium, I cast iron, S stainless, H Alloy C, X unpainted aluminium), diaphragm/ball elastomer, seat, non-wetted (centre) material, porting, style and options. The wetted-material builds in the manual are below.

Troubleshooting

Pump cycles once and stops

Likely cause: discharge pressure has reached the air supply pressure (deadhead), air valve or intermediate gaskets fitted out of line, or a bent or missing actuator plunger. Action: raise the air pressure, refit the gaskets with the holes aligned, and pull the pilot valve to check the actuator plungers (item 30).

Pump will not run or cycle at all

Likely cause: too much line lubrication, too little air, a blocked muffler or discharge line, or a fault in the air valve or pilot valve. Action: turn the lubricator down or off, check air line size and compressor capacity, clean or de-ice the muffler, and strip and inspect the air valve and pilot valve.

Pump cycles but will not prime or deliver

Likely cause: suction-side cavitation or air leaks, a blocked suction line, or check balls that are stuck, missing, worn or attacked by the product. Action: move the pump closer to the product, check suction gaskets and fittings, clear the valve pockets and replace worn balls (item 2) or seats (item 34); a heavier ball material can help.

Sluggish, stalling or poor flow

Likely cause: icing in the exhaust, over-lubrication, clogged manifolds, an undersized air or suction line, or air pressure set so high the pump cavitates. Action: de-ice the muffler and fit a point-of-use dryer, clean the manifolds, size lines to the pump connections and back off the inlet air.

Product coming out of the exhaust

Likely cause: a ruptured diaphragm, loose diaphragm plates, or a diaphragm stretched at the centre or bolt holes from excess inlet or air pressure. Action: fit new diaphragms (item 16), tighten the plates to the manual torque and check the elastomer suits the product; Sandpiper advises a full centre-section rebuild after a failure.

Diaphragms failing early

Likely cause: cavitation, too much flooded-suction pressure, the wrong elastomer for the product, or plates fitted backwards or worn sharp. Action: enlarge the suction pipe, cut inlet pressure or add a back-pressure device or dampener, and check plate fit and condition (items 28, 29).
