SEEPEX BTHE Hopper Pumps
Spare Parts for SEEPEX BTHE Ribbon Screw Hopper Pumps
Product Summary
Genuine and compatible spare parts for the SEEPEX BTHE, the open hopper pump with vertical hopper walls and a large edge-to-edge ribbon screw that feeds sludge cake of up to 45% dry solids, as used at Sydney Water’s West Camden plant (BTHE 130-6LS). Every BTHE shares the same build (rotor, stator, ribbon screw, stuffing part, coupling rod with pin joints and shaft seal), so tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to your nameplate.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. SEEPEX parts are matched to the pump range, size, rotor/stator geometry, stator elastomer and shaft seal, so the type code and the commission number on your nameplate are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Small Wearing Parts Package | Retaining sleeve, coupling rod pin, two guide bushings, universal joint sleeve, holding bands, casing gasket, rotor, stator and joint grease, from the SEEPEX BTHE order template. | |
| Large Wearing Parts Package | Both joints, plug-in shaft, coupling rod, shaft seal and casing gasket with rotor and stator; on the tapered build it also includes the ribbon screw, hopper inlay and holding bands 411–413. | |
| Complete Set of Joint Parts | Retaining sleeves, pins, guide bushings, joint sleeves and holding bands (406, 407, 411, 412) with the rubber strip (413). | |
| Wear & Consumable Parts | ||
| Stator (item 601) | The elastomer-lined pumping element and the part that wears most. Replace when flow or pressure drops away, after any dry run, or if the elastomer has swollen, hardened or torn. | |
| Rotor (item 600) | The helical rotor that turns inside the stator. Replace if it is scored, pitted or worn through its coating; a worn rotor will chew out a new stator quickly. | |
| Mechanical Seal (item 330) | The shaft seal at the drive end of the suction casing (gland packing on some builds). Replace at the first sign of leakage; check the seal faces and O-rings for wear and chemical attack. | |
| Set of Packing Rings (item 301) | The gland packing set for pumps built with a packed shaft seal. Renew when the gland can no longer be adjusted to a controlled drip, or at every major overhaul. | |
| Pin Joint Grease (item 098) | SEEPEX special joint grease. The manual calls for fresh grease every 10,000 operating hours and at every joint rebuild; SEEPEX specifies its own grease only. | |
| Casing Gasket (item 501) | Seals the stator to the suction casing. Fit a new one every time the stator is changed. | |
| Ribbon Screw (item 430) | The large-diameter ribbon screw that sweeps the hopper and stops cake bridging. Replace if bent, cracked or worn thin at the edges. | |
| Inlay for Feed Hopper (item 550) | The conical stuffing-part inlay that guides cake into the rotor. Replace when worn by abrasive cake. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Coupling Rod with Bushings (item 400) | Carries the drive from the plug-in shaft to the eccentric rotor through a pin joint at each end. Replace if the bores are worn oval, the rod is bent, or corrosion has attacked it. | |
| Plug-in Shaft & Pin (items 307, 309) | The plug-in shaft that connects the drive to the coupling rod and carries the shaft seal. Replace if it is worn or grooved under the seal or damaged at the joint end. | |
| Stuffing Part (moveable or tapered) | The compression section between hopper and stator: moveable on one build, tapered with a conical inlay on the other. Tell us which your pump has. | |
| Casing O-rings (items 536, 561, 569) | O-rings on the stuffing part and casing joints. Renew whenever the casing is opened. | |
| Pressure Branch (item 700) | The discharge end casing that clamps the stator. Replace if worn or cracked, or when changing connection size. | |
| Drive Unit (gearmotor) | The flanged gearmotor (block design) or the separate drive train on bare-shaft builds. Matched to your kW, output speed and mounting so the replacement bolts straight on. | |
| Complete Replacement Pump | When a rebuild doesn’t stack up, we quote a like-for-like SEEPEX BTHE hopper pump from the type code and commission number on your nameplate. | |
How we confirm the exact part: SEEPEX BTHE parts depend on the size, rotor/stator geometry, stator elastomer, rotor material, joint type and shaft seal fitted to your pump. The item numbers shown are the positions in the SEEPEX parts list; your nameplate carries the type code (e.g. BTHE 130-6LS) and the commission number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.
Models
The BTHE operating instructions cover sizes 10-12 up to 130-12 in two builds (moveable or tapered stuffing part); West Camden runs a BTHE 130-6LS.
Models & Key Specifications
| Build | Operating instructions | Extra parts in the order template |

Troubleshooting
Sludge cake bridges in the hopper and the pump starves
Likely cause: very dry cake not dropping onto the feed screw, or a worn feed screw. Action: check the feed screw for wear and the cake dryness against the pump’s rating; SEEPEX rates the BTVE to about 30–32% dry solids and the BTHE to 45%.
Pump runs but delivers little or nothing
Likely cause: worn stator and rotor, a blocked suction line, or speed too high for a viscous product (cavitation). Action: clear the suction line and check the speed against the duty; if output is still down, replace the stator (item 601), and the rotor (item 600) if it is scored.
Stator wears quickly or burns out
Likely cause: dry running, solids or grain size too large for the pump speed, or product temperature too high for the elastomer. Action: fit a new stator, reduce speed or screen the feed, keep the pump full at start-up and fit dry-run protection; SEEPEX also suggests an undersize rotor for hot duties.
Pump hard to turn or will not start after a stator change
Likely cause: stator swollen by an incompatible product, or product that has settled, gummed up or set inside the pump while it stood. Action: check the stator elastomer against the product and select a suitable material; rinse and clean the pump immediately after stopping, and heat it if the product hardens when cold.
Knocking or noise from the suction casing
Likely cause: worn joint parts or too much joint play, often with grease lost through a split joint sleeve. Action: renew the complete set of joint parts with SEEPEX pin joint grease and check the coupling rod bushings are correctly fitted.
Leaking at the shaft seal
Likely cause: a worn mechanical seal (sliprings or O-rings) or packing that is worn or set too tight. Action: check the sliprings and O-rings for wear and chemical resistance and renew the seal; on packed pumps adjust the gland or renew the packing rings.
