Southern Cross Sovereign Pumps
Spare Parts for Southern Cross Sovereign Long-Coupled End-Suction Pumps
Product Summary
Genuine OEM spare parts for the Southern Cross Sovereign ISO long-coupled end-suction centrifugal pump by Pentair, used across Australia for irrigation, water supply, municipal, mining and industrial duties. Every Sovereign shares the same back pull-out build (impeller, mechanical seal, optional bronze wear rings and a grease-packed bearing housing on one of four shaft modules), so tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to your nameplate, such as 50x32-160.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. Southern Cross parts are matched to the pump model, size and shaft module (plus impeller diameter, materials and seal type), so the model, construction code and serial number on your nameplate are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Mechanical Seal (item 21) | Seals the shaft where it passes through the backplate (33, 43, 53 or 60 mm by shaft module). Southern Cross advises a new seal at every overhaul; also sold as a Mechanical Seal & O-Ring Kit. | |
| Impeller (item 3) | The closed impeller, in cast iron or zinc-free bronze. Replace if eroded, cavitated or clogged and damaged; quote full diameter or the turndown diameter stamped on the nameplate. | |
| Wear Rings (items A, B, C, D) | Optional zinc-free bronze rings on the backplate, impeller rear and front, and casing. Fitting or renewing them restores clearances when the casing or impeller has worn and output has dropped. | |
| Bearings (items J, N) | Deep groove ball bearings at the impeller end (J) and pulley end (N) in the bearing housing, sealed-for-life grease lubricated. Replace if noisy, rough or running hot. | |
| Seal & Bearing Kit | The Southern Cross overhaul kit for a full bearing-housing rebuild, matched to the shaft module. The sensible choice when the seal has failed and the bearings are also tired. | |
| Wear & Consumable Parts | ||
| O-Ring (item G) | Seals the backplate to the volute casing. Fit a new one whenever the pump is opened and check the faces are clean before refitting. | |
| Dust Seals (items K, M) | Lip seals at the impeller end (K) and pulley end (M) of the bearing housing that keep water and dirt out of the bearings. Renew with the bearings. | |
| Water Slinger (item 14) | Rubber flinger on the shaft between the seal and bearing housing that throws any leakage clear of the bearings. Replace if perished or split. | |
| Impeller Nut & Lock Washer (items 46, 7) | Secures the impeller on the shaft. Renew if the threads are damaged or the washer is distorted, and torque to the figure for your shaft module. | |
| Impeller Key (item F) | Locates the impeller on the shaft. Replace if worn, sheared or loose in the keyway when the impeller comes off. | |
| Packing Ring Set (5) | The five-ring packing set for Sovereign pumps built with the packed gland option. Renew when the gland can no longer be adjusted to a steady drip. | |
| Shaft Sleeve Kit | Shaft sleeve kit (includes the packing ring set) for packed gland builds. Replace when the sleeve is scored under the packing; a full Packed Gland Kit is also listed. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Pump Shaft (item 15) | The shaft carrying the impeller, seal and bearings. Replace if bent, worn under the seal or bearings, or damaged at the taper or keyways. | |
| Volute Casing (item 2) | The pump casing with suction and discharge flanges. Replace if cracked, or worn or corroded past what wear rings can restore. | |
| Backplate (item 4) | Closes the back of the casing and houses the seal. Replace if the seal recess is damaged, or when changing between mechanical seal and packed gland. | |
| Bearing Housing (item 1) | Carries the shaft and bearings and bolts to the backplate. Replace if the bearing bores are worn or the housing is cracked; tell us if yours is the Mk2 (2013) housing. | |
| Bearing Cover (item 6) | Closes the pulley end of the bearing housing and retains the bearings. Replace if cracked or the seal bore is damaged. | |
| Support Foot (item 8) | The foot that supports the bearing housing on the base plate. Replace if bent or corroded so the pump sits true for coupling alignment. | |
How we confirm the exact part: Southern Cross Sovereign parts depend on the pump size, shaft module, impeller diameter and the materials and seal type in the construction code. The item numbers and letters shown are as printed in the Southern Cross ISO Sovereign parts list and owner’s manual; your nameplate carries the size (e.g. 50x32-160), model code (e.g. PSEA1), construction code (e.g. CZ5CMW) and serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.
Models
Parts are available across the Sovereign size range; the size on your nameplate (e.g. 50x32-160: discharge x inlet in mm, then nominal impeller diameter) identifies the pump. The sizes below are those listed in the Southern Cross ISO Sovereign parts list.
Models & Key Specifications
| Shaft module | Sizes | Mech seal (item 21) | Bearings J / N | Drive shaft & nut torque |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No. 1 | 50x32-160 to 80x50-200 (6 sizes) | 33 mm | 6307 / 6306 | 24 mm · 50 Nm |
| No. 2 | 100x80-160 to 80x50-315 (10 sizes) | 43 mm | 6309 / 6308 | 32 mm · 100 Nm |
| No. 3 | 125x100-250 to 150x125-400 (9 sizes) | 53 mm | 6311 / 6310 | 42 mm · 170 Nm |
| No. 4 | 200x150-315 to 200x150-500 (6 sizes) | 60 mm | 6313 / 6313 | 48 mm · 320 Nm |
From the Southern Cross ISO Sovereign parts list (April 2014) and owner’s manual; seal is the standard carbon/ceramic/nitrile type and bearings are deep groove ball bearings. Torque is the impeller nut figure. Builds with other seals or materials (see construction code) differ; we confirm against your nameplate.
Troubleshooting
Pump delivers little or no water
Likely cause: pump not primed, an air leak in the suction line or a worn shaft seal, a blocked strainer or footvalve, or excessive suction lift. Action: re-prime, check suction joints and the footvalve, and renew the mechanical seal (item 21) if it is drawing air.
Output has dropped over time
Likely cause: internal wear from abrasive solids, cavitation or corrosive liquid, or a partly clogged impeller. Action: clear the impeller and check clearances; fit bronze wear rings (items A–D) or a new impeller (item 3) if worn.
Bearings running hot
Likely cause: coupling out of alignment, belt drive too tight or out of line, or pipework straining the pump. Action: realign the coupling, correct the belt tension and support the pipework; renew the bearings (items J, N) if damaged.
Excessive vibration
Likely cause: misalignment, a soft foundation, a partly clogged impeller or worn bearings. Action: check alignment and foundation, clear the impeller, and renew the bearings and dust seals if rough.
Noisy operation
Likely cause: a foreign body in the impeller, impeller binding in the casing, worn bearings or cavitation. Action: remove the obstruction, check impeller clearance and bearings, and reduce suction lift if cavitating.
Power draw too high
Likely cause: head lower than designed so too much water is pumped, speed too high, bent shaft or misalignment. Action: throttle the discharge valve or trim the impeller, check speed and alignment, and replace a bent shaft (item 15).
