Sulzer ABS AS Pumps
Spare Parts for ABS AS Submersible Wastewater Pumps
Product Summary
Genuine and compatible spare parts for the Sulzer ABS AS submersible wastewater pump, the compact 1–3 kW unit used across Australia in small commercial and industrial sewage pump stations, building sumps and effluent transfer. Every AS from the AS 0530 to the AS 0841 shares the same build (vortex or ContraBlock impeller, SiC/SiC mechanical seal backed by an oil-lubricated lip seal), so tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to your nameplate, such as AS 0840 S 12/2.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. AS wear parts are matched to the hydraulic (AS 0530 to 0841), the motor rating and poles, and single or three phase, so the type code on your nameplate is all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Impeller | The vortex impeller (for fibrous matter) or ContraBlock impeller. Replace if the vanes are worn, chipped or cracked, or flow stays low after the bottom plate has been reset. | |
| Bottom Plate | The adjustable plate under the impeller, reset to a 0.3–0.5 mm clearance after wear. Replace once it can no longer be closed up, or if it is grooved or cracked. | |
| Mechanical Seal | The silicon carbide seal between the hydraulic and the oil chamber. Replace on a leakage (DI) alarm, water in the oil, or whenever the pump is opened for seal work; seals are never reused. | |
| Lip Seal | The oil-lubricated lip seal that backs up the mechanical seal on the motor side. Replace together with the mechanical seal. | |
| O-ring & Gasket Set | Housing O-rings, oil plug seal rings and the discharge gasket. Renew whenever the pump is opened. | |
| Seal Chamber Oil | White oil (ISO VG8 to VG10) for the seal chamber. Change after a seal fault or repair, or if the oil is milky or contaminated. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Power Cable | Submersible power cable (10 m standard). Replace if the sheath is cut, crushed or perished, or water has wicked along it; must be fitted by a qualified person. | |
| Bearings | The motor ball bearings. Replace if the pump is noisy or vibrating, or during a seal overhaul; bearings are not reused once removed. | |
| Volute (Pump Casing) | The cast iron volute with G2 thread (AS 0530) or DN65 / DN80 flange. Replace if eroded, cracked or badly corroded. | |
| Leakage Sensor (DI) | The moisture probe that warns of water in the motor or seal chamber. Replace if it reads low with clean oil, or retro-fit when upgrading pump monitoring. | |
| Start / Run Capacitors | Panel-mounted motor capacitors for single-phase AS pumps. Replace if the pump hums and won’t start; the wrong rating will burn out the motor, so match it to the nameplate. | |
| Pedestal Bracket & Seal | The coupling bracket and seal for guide rail installations. Replace if the joint leaks back into the well. | |
| Complete Replacement Pump | When a rebuild doesn’t stack up, we quote a like-for-like AS from the type code on your nameplate. | |
How we confirm the exact part: AS parts depend on the hydraulic (AS 0530 to AS 0841), impeller type, motor rating and poles, single or three phase, and whether the unit is an Ex build. Your nameplate carries the type code (e.g. AS 0840 S 12/2) and serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.
Models
Spare parts are available for every AS model. The first two digits on your nameplate (e.g. AS 0840) give the discharge size in cm, and the last two are the hydraulic type.
Models & Key Specifications
| Model | Impeller | Discharge | Motors, 50 Hz | Min. water level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AS 0530 | Vortex | DN50 (G2 thread) | S12/2 – S26/2 | 331 mm |
| AS 0630 | Vortex | DN65 | S10/4 – S22/4 | 348 mm |
| AS 0631 | Vortex | DN65 | S12/2 – S30/2 | 346 mm |
| AS 0641 | ContraBlock | DN65 | S30/2 | 346 mm |
| AS 0830 | Vortex | DN80 | S10/4 – S22/4 | 408 mm |
| AS 0831 | Vortex | DN80 | S22/4 | 445 mm |
| AS 0840 | ContraBlock | DN80 | S12/2 – S26/2 | 379 mm |
| AS 0841 | ContraBlock | DN80 | S13/4 – S22/4 | 450 mm |
Motor code = P2 in kW x 10 / poles (e.g. S12/2 = 1.2 kW, 2-pole); 1–3 kW, single-phase 220–240 V or three-phase 400 V. Cast iron casing, volute and impeller with a 1.4021 stainless shaft. Continuous duty (S1) when submerged to the minimum water level; intermittent duty (S3, 25%) when dry-installed. Max. liquid temperature 40 °C.
Troubleshooting
Pump won’t run after a leakage (DI) alarm
Likely cause: water past a worn mechanical seal or a damaged O-ring, or a loose or damaged oil plug. Action: take the pump out of service, check the plug, and renew the mechanical seal, lip seal, O-rings and oil.
Pump switching on and off by itself
Likely cause: the thermal sensor is tripping on overheating, from a partial blockage, running below the minimum water level, or too long a run when dry-installed. Action: the motor restarts once cool; check the stop level against the minimum water level, clear any blockage and check the thermal relay settings.
Low flow or head
Likely cause: the impeller to bottom plate gap has worn open, a worn impeller, wrong rotation (three-phase), or a partly closed valve. Action: reset the bottom plate to 0.3–0.5 mm; replace the impeller and bottom plate if worn out, and check rotation and valve positions.
Blocked with rags or wipes
Likely cause: fibrous material wrapping a ContraBlock impeller, or debris jammed behind the impeller. Action: reset from the panel once; if it trips again, lift the pump, remove the bottom plate and clear the impeller, then reset the gap. A vortex model suits heavy fibrous loads.
Single-phase pump hums but won’t start
Likely cause: a failed or wrongly rated start or run capacitor, or a jammed impeller. Action: check the impeller turns freely, then test and replace the capacitors with the rating specified for the motor.
Excessive noise or vibration
Likely cause: worn bearings, a clogged impeller, or wrong rotation. Action: clear the hydraulics and check rotation; if the noise remains, replace the bearings (with new seals) in a workshop.
