Product Summary

Genuine and compatible spare parts for the Sulzer ABS MF 154 – 804 light wastewater pump, the compact vortex-impeller submersible used across Australia for basement and car park sumps, stormwater pits, laundry and greywater drainage, flooded cellars and building-site dewatering. Every MF from the single-phase MF 154W to the three-phase MF 804D shares the same simple build, so tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to your nameplate, such as MF 404D.

Type: Light wastewater / drainage pump Build: Vortex impeller · solids 20 – 60 mm Range: MF 154 – 804 · 1~ and 3~

Spare Parts List

✓ Tick the parts you need. MF parts are matched to the model, phase and version (standard, HW hot-water or VO with screen), so the type on your nameplate is all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.

SelectWear / Service ItemFunction & when to replace
Common Service Kits
Vortex ImpellerThe recessed vortex impeller that passes solids from 20 to 60 mm. Replace when flow drops away, or if worn by sand or chipped by a stone.
Mechanical Seal & Lip SealThe oil-lubricated mechanical seal (carbon/SiC on MF 154 – 404, SiC on MF 504 – 804) with a lip seal on the motor side. Replace if water is found in the seal chamber oil or the pump has run dry for long periods.
O-ring & Gasket SetThe O-rings, gaskets and seal rings for the pump housing, seal chamber and drain plug. Renew whenever the pump is opened.
Seal Chamber OilThe small charge of seal chamber oil filled at the factory. Change it after a seal fault or whenever the seal is replaced.
Float SwitchThe KS float that switches the pump on rising and off falling level on automatic models. Replace if it sticks, is damaged or no longer switches reliably.
Power Cable & PlugThe plug-in submersible cable with single-phase or three-phase plug. Replace if the sheath is cut or crushed; outdoor pumps need at least 10 m.
Other Core Parts
Bearing SetLubricated-for-life ball bearings on the stainless rotor shaft. Replace if the pump is noisy or the shaft feels rough, and fit new seals at the same time.
Pump HousingThe volute and inlet that surround the vortex impeller. Replace if cracked, worn through by grit or damaged at the discharge thread.
Protective Screen (MF-VO)The inlet screen fitted to the VO versions for site dewatering, limiting solids to 7 mm. Replace if torn, holed or corroded.
Storz-C Hose Coupling (MF-VO)The quick-connect fire-hose style discharge coupling on VO versions. Replace if the lugs are worn or the seal leaks.
Non-return ValveThe check valve in the discharge line that stops backflow into the sump. Replace if it sticks open or chatters.
Complete Replacement PumpFor small MF pumps a new unit is often the better option; we quote a like-for-like MF from the type on your nameplate.

How we confirm the exact part: MF parts depend on the model size, phase (W = single-phase, D = three-phase), version (standard, HW hot-water or VO with screen) and level-control option. Your nameplate carries the type (e.g. MF 404D), item number and serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.

Models

Spare parts are available for every MF size in the Sulzer range; the letter at the end of the type shows the supply (W = single-phase, D = three-phase).

All models: 2,900 rpm, polyamide vortex impeller, cast iron motor housing with stainless steel upper lid and rotor shaft, up to 58 m³/h and 16 m head across the range. Liquid temperature 40 °C (max. 60 °C for 5 minutes); MF 154HW handles up to 80 °C in short-term and intermittent duty only. VO versions (354W, 504W, 804D) add a protective screen for solids up to 7 mm and a Storz-C hose coupling.

Troubleshooting

Pump runs but doesn’t pump

Likely cause: an air lock in the pump housing, a closed valve, a blocked non-return valve or a clogged inlet or VO screen. Action: lift and lower the pump to vent it, open the valves, clean the non-return valve and clear the inlet or screen.

Pump doesn’t start or won’t switch off

Likely cause: a float switch that is tangled, stuck or fouled with grease and debris. Action: free and clean the float, check its travel in the sump, and replace it if it no longer switches reliably.

Pump stops and restarts on its own

Likely cause: the motor thermal sensors are tripping from overheating, usually from a partial blockage, running dry or too many starts. Action: clear any blockage, check the switching levels so the motor stays covered, and confirm the supply voltage; for MF 154HW keep to intermittent duty.

Low flow

Likely cause: a worn vortex impeller or housing from sand and grit, wrong rotation on a three-phase pump, or a partly blocked discharge. Action: check rotation and swap two phases if needed, clear the discharge, and replace the impeller if it is worn.

Oil in the sump or water in the seal chamber oil

Likely cause: a worn mechanical seal or lip seal, often after running dry or pumping abrasive water. Action: replace the mechanical seal, lip seal and O-rings and refill the seal chamber oil.

Noisy running or vibration

Likely cause: worn bearings, a damaged impeller or solids caught in the housing. Action: isolate the pump, clear the housing, check the impeller, and replace the bearings if the shaft is rough.
