Sulzer ABS RCP / XRCP Pumps
Spare Parts for ABS RCP and XRCP Submersible Recirculation Pumps
Product Summary
Spare parts for the Sulzer ABS RCP and XRCP submersible recirculation pumps, the low-head, high-flow propeller pumps used at Australian treatment plants to return nitrate-rich mixed liquor (internal recycle) in nitrogen-removal plants and to move storm and surface water. From DN 250 to DN 800, tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to the type code on your nameplate, such as RCP 5032 A75/12 or XRCP 4031A PM30/10.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. RCP and XRCP parts are matched to discharge size, propeller type, motor size and material, so the type code and serial number on your nameplate are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Propeller | The self-cleaning two- or three-blade stainless propeller. Sulzer says inspect it every 3 months; replace if blades are worn, cracked or pitted, as flow drops away quickly. | |
| Mechanical Seal | The medium-side shaft seal protecting the oil chamber and motor. Replace at overhaul or when the leakage sensor (DI) alarms. | |
| Solids Deflection (SD) Ring | Keeps rags and grit away from the mechanical seal. Check it with the propeller and replace if worn or scored. | |
| Propeller Fixing Parts | The feather key, rotor disc, Nord-Lock® locking washers, O-rings and cylinder screw. Renew whenever the propeller is removed. | |
| Seal Chamber Oil & O-rings | Hydraulic oil for the seal (oil) chamber plus plug seals and O-rings. Change at the basic overhaul or after a seal failure. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Inlet Cone | The inlet cone that guides flow into the propeller. Replace if eroded, cracked or damaged, and keep the area around it clear of debris. | |
| Motor Connection Cable | The power and control cable. Sulzer says clean and inspect it monthly; replace if scratched, blistered, crushed or cut. | |
| Leakage Sensor (DI) & Thermal Sensors | The DI moisture sensor and stator temperature sensors. Replace if they fail the annual function test or give false alarms. | |
| Shaft Unit & Bearings | The motor shaft with rotor and lubricated-for-life ball bearings. Replace at a complete overhaul or if bearings are noisy. | |
| Gearbox | The reduction gearbox on the DN 800 pumps. Gearbox work is a workshop job; quoted by model and ratio. | |
| Guide Tube, Bracket & Cable Holders | The flange bracket, guide tube, tube retainer and cable holders that locate the pump on the discharge flange. Replace if worn or corroded. | |
| Complete Replacement Unit | When a rebuild doesn’t stack up, we quote a like-for-like RCP or the current XRCP equivalent from the type code on your nameplate. | |
How we confirm the exact part: RCP and XRCP parts depend on discharge size, propeller type, motor type (asynchronous or permanent magnet), frequency, material and whether the unit is a standard or Ex build. Your nameplate carries the type code (e.g. XRCP 4031A PM30/10), item number and serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact pump.
Models
Spare parts are available for every RCP and XRCP size; the first two digits of the hydraulic code are the discharge size in centimetres (e.g. XRCP 4031 = DN 400).
Models & Key Specifications

All RCP/XRCP: IP68 motor, insulation class F, maximum medium temperature 40 °C, maximum immersion depth 20 m, PN6 discharge flange, ATEX explosion-proof option. XRCP 400/500 have permanent-magnet motors and run on a VFD; RCP 800 and XRCP 800 PA are geared. RCP 250 is listed in the RCP brochure (DN 250); parts quoted by type code.
Troubleshooting
Flow has dropped off
Likely cause: worn or damaged propeller blades, a worn SD ring, debris blocking the inlet cone, or wrong direction of rotation. Action: inspect the propeller and SD ring (Sulzer says every 3 months), clear the inlet area, confirm rotation, and replace worn parts.
Heavy vibration or noise
Likely cause: damaged propeller, restricted flow in or out of the inlet cone, or loose guide tube or bracket parts. Action: switch off and inspect; clear the inlet cone, replace a damaged propeller, and check the guide tube bracket and retainer are tight.
Leakage sensor (DI) alarm
Likely cause: moisture in the oil chamber or motor from a worn mechanical seal or O-ring. Action: lift the pump, check the chamber oil, and replace the mechanical seal, SD ring and oil before refitting.
Thermal trip or high current
Likely cause: rags on the propeller, wrong rotation, or a VFD set-up fault on XRCP 400/500. Action: clear the propeller and check rotation and current against the nameplate; Sulzer says contact service if current stays high in normal running.
Pump won’t seat on the discharge flange
Likely cause: flange outside the Y-dimension tolerance, or a worn bracket or guide tube. Action: check the flange Y dimension against the IOM table and replace a worn bracket or guide tube parts.
Cable damage
Likely cause: rags and fibre building up on the cable, or cable caught by the propeller. Action: clean and inspect the cables monthly as Sulzer recommends, fit cable holders, and replace any scratched, blistered or crushed cable.
