Sulzer ABS RW / XRW Mixers
Spare Parts for ABS RW and XRW Submersible Mixers
Product Summary
Spare parts for the Sulzer ABS RW and newer XRW submersible mixers, the propeller mixers used across Australian sewage treatment plants for anoxic and anaerobic zones, sludge homogenisation, storage tanks and agricultural effluent ponds. From the small direct-drive RW 400 and XRW 210 through to the geared RW 900 and XRW 900, tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to the type code on your nameplate, such as XRW 6531C-PM100/24.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. RW and XRW wear parts are matched to propeller diameter, propeller type, motor size and material, so the type code and serial number on your nameplate are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Propeller | The two- or three-blade thrust propeller (or mixed-flow propeller on sludge duties). Replace if blades are cracked, eroded or bent, as a damaged propeller cuts flow and sets up vibration. | |
| Mechanical Seal | The medium-side shaft seal that keeps tank liquid out of the motor. Replace at overhaul or when the leakage sensor (DI) alarms. | |
| Solids Deflection (SD) Ring | Sits behind the propeller hub and keeps rags and grit away from the mechanical seal. Replace if worn or scored; Sulzer says check it with the propeller. | |
| Propeller Fixing Parts | The propeller key, propeller washer, Nord-Lock® securing washers, cylinder screw and O-rings. Renew whenever the propeller comes off. | |
| Seal Chamber Oil & O-rings | Hydraulic oil for the seal chamber plus the plug-screw seal washers and O-rings. Change at the basic overhaul or after any seal failure. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Motor Connection Cable | The power and control cable with free ends (10 m standard). Replace if cut, crushed, blistered or chafed; never lift the mixer by its cable. | |
| Leakage Sensor (DI) & Thermal Sensors | The DI moisture sensor and the winding temperature sensors that trip the mixer. Replace if they fail a function test or give false alarms. | |
| Shaft Unit & Bearings | The motor shaft with rotor and its lubricated-for-life ball bearings. Replace at a complete overhaul or if bearings are noisy or rough. | |
| Gearbox | The reduction gearbox on the slow-speed, large-propeller models. Gearbox oil refills and repairs are a workshop job; quoted by model and ratio. | |
| Bracket & Guide Tube Parts | The open or closed mixer bracket, rollers, cladding, guide tube clamps and cable hooks. Replace if worn, loose or corroded. | |
| Complete Replacement Unit | When a rebuild doesn’t stack up, we quote a like-for-like RW or the current XRW equivalent from the type code on your nameplate. | |
How we confirm the exact part: RW and XRW parts depend on propeller diameter, propeller type, motor size, frequency, material (cast iron or CR stainless) and whether the unit is a standard or Ex build. Your nameplate carries the type code (e.g. XRW 6531C-PM100/24), item number and serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact mixer.
Models
Spare parts are available for every RW and XRW size; the first digits of the hydraulic code are the propeller diameter in centimetres (e.g. RW 6532 = 650 mm class).
Models & Key Specifications
| Model | Propeller Ø | Propeller speed (50 Hz) | Motor P2 (50 Hz) | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RW 400 | 400 mm | 680 – 702 rpm | 3.0 – 4.0 kW | Direct |
| RW 480 | 480 mm | 446 – 539 rpm | 7.5 – 11 kW | Gearbox |
| RW 650 | 580 – 650 mm | 462 – 470 rpm | 5.0 – 10 kW | Direct |
| RW 750 | 750 mm | 285 rpm | 15 kW | Gearbox |
| RW 900 | 900 mm | 238 – 285 rpm | 11 – 22 kW | Gearbox |
| XRW 210 – 900 | 210 – 900 mm | by size | 0.8 – 22 kW | Direct or gearbox (by size) |
All RW/XRW: IP68 motor, insulation class F, maximum medium temperature 40 °C, maximum immersion depth 20 m, 400 V 50 Hz standard (460 V 60 Hz available), ATEX explosion-proof builds on most sizes. XRW 330, 400, 480 and 650 use permanent-magnet motors; XRW 210, 300, 750 and 900 use premium-efficiency asynchronous motors. RW 550 DM is a drilling-mud version and LW versions are agricultural; parts quoted by type code.
Troubleshooting
Heavy vibration or uneven flow
Likely cause: propeller not fully covered, air drawn into the propeller, wrong direction of rotation, a damaged propeller, or a loose bracket. Action: switch off and inspect; check submergence and that the mixer is outside the aerated zone, confirm rotation, replace a damaged propeller and re-tighten bracket and guide tube parts.
Leakage sensor (DI) alarm
Likely cause: moisture in the seal chamber or motor from a worn mechanical seal, often after rag build-up or a worn SD ring. Action: lift the mixer, check the seal chamber oil (milky oil means water ingress) and replace the mechanical seal, SD ring and seal chamber oil.
Thermal trip or overload
Likely cause: rags wrapped on the propeller, a propeller too large for the fluid, wrong rotation, or high sludge viscosity. Action: clear the propeller, confirm direction of rotation and current draw against the nameplate, and check the propeller type suits the fluid.
Rags and fibre wrapping on the propeller
Likely cause: fibrous load in the tank, or a damaged leading edge catching rags. Action: clean the propeller and cable regularly; replace a chipped propeller, and consider a de-ragging (reverse) routine on XRW units with a VFD.
Mixing performance has dropped off
Likely cause: eroded or bent propeller blades, a worn propeller hub, or a mixer that has swung out of position on its guide tube. Action: inspect and replace the propeller and SD ring, and re-set the mixer angle and height on the guide tube.
Noise or grinding from a geared mixer
Likely cause: worn gearbox bearings or gears, or low or contaminated gearbox oil. Action: take the unit out of service; gearbox oil and repairs should be done by a qualified workshop. We can quote the gearbox parts or an exchange unit.
