Sulzer ABS XTA / XTAK Aerators
Spare Parts for ABS XTA and XTAK Submersible Aerators
Product Summary
Spare parts for the Sulzer ABS XTA and XTAK self-aspirating submersible aerators, which draw air down an air pipe and mix it into the tank, used across Australia in equalisation and sludge-holding tanks, industrial and food-processing effluent and small treatment-plant aeration. From the XTA 152 to the XTAK 2400 with channel extensions, tick what you need and we’ll match the parts to the type code on your nameplate, such as XTA 901 CR PE 185/4.
Spare Parts List
✓ Tick the parts you need. XTA and XTAK parts are matched to hydraulic size, motor size, frequency and hydraulic material (AR, CR or HR), so the type code and serial number on your nameplate are all we need to get them right. Not sure which items? Add a photo of the nameplate and we’ll work it out for you.
| Select | Wear / Service Item | Function & when to replace |
|---|---|---|
| Common Service Kits | ||
| Runner | The rotating runner that draws air down the air pipe and shears it into the liquid. Replace when worn or chipped, as air intake and oxygen transfer drop off. | |
| Stator Ring | The fixed hydraulic ring around the runner that directs the air-water mix out of the unit. Replace with the runner if worn, eroded or damaged. | |
| Mechanical Seal Set | The two sliding ring (mechanical) seals either side of the seal chamber. Replace at overhaul or when the leakage sensor alarms. | |
| Bushing & Flanged Washer | The bronze bushing and flanged washer in the hydraulic end. Replace if worn or scored when the runner is out. | |
| Seal Chamber Oil & O-rings | Oil for the seal and inspection chambers (quantity by PE motor size) plus plug seals and O-rings. Change at service or after any seal failure. | |
| Other Core Parts | ||
| Channel Extensions | The bolt-on channel extensions that push the aerated flow further across the tank on XTAK units. Replace if bent, cracked or corroded. | |
| Motor Connection & Control Cable | The power and control cable with cable insert. Replace if cut, crushed, blistered or chafed; never lift the aerator by its cable. | |
| Leakage & Temperature Sensors | The leakage sensors plus stator thermal limiters (bimetal, PTC or PT100) and optional bearing sensors. Replace if they fail a function test. | |
| Motor Bearings | The upper and lower motor shaft bearings. Replace at overhaul or if noisy, or if the bearing temperature sensor has tripped. | |
| Air Pipe, Silencer & Weather Cap | The air pipe that must end 0.5 m above top water level, plus the silencer and weather cap on top. Replace if cracked, blocked or corroded. | |
| Hinged Feet & Lifting Parts | The rubber-padded hinged feet, safety shackle, wire rope and crane hook eyelet. Replace if worn, frayed or corroded; all lifting parts must be stainless. | |
| Complete Replacement Unit | When a rebuild doesn’t stack up, we quote a like-for-like XTA or XTAK from the type code on your nameplate. | |
How we confirm the exact part: XTA and XTAK parts depend on hydraulic size, motor (PE) size, frequency, hydraulic material (AR, CR or HR) and whether the unit has channel extensions. Your nameplate carries the type code (e.g. XTA 901 CR PE 185/4), item number and serial number, which together pin down the build. Tick the items above and add a nameplate photo, and we’ll confirm the correct parts for your exact aerator.
Models
Spare parts are available for every XTA and XTAK size; XTAK is the XTA with channel extensions, and the number after XTA/XTAK on your nameplate (e.g. XTA 901) is the hydraulic size.

All XTA/XTAK: 400 V 50 Hz (460 V 60 Hz versions available), 4-pole PE motor, maximum immersion depth set by motor power, not for explosion-protected areas. Hydraulic material AR or CR (1.4301 stainless, CR with hard-chrome plated wear parts) or HR (1.4571, sizes 901–2400). Air pipe flanges to DIN 1092-1 PN16.
Troubleshooting
Low air intake or poor oxygen transfer
Likely cause: worn runner or stator ring, a blocked or crushed air pipe, a clogged silencer or weather cap, or wrong rotation. Action: check the air pipe and silencer are clear, confirm rotation, and replace a worn runner and stator ring.
Unit runs at the wrong immersion depth
Likely cause: liquid level above the maximum immersion for the motor, so the aerator can no longer draw air. Action: check top water level against the nameplate and spec table; lower the level or re-site the unit.
Leakage sensor alarm
Likely cause: moisture in the seal or motor chamber from worn mechanical seals or a damaged O-ring. Action: lift the aerator, check the seal chamber oil, and replace the mechanical seal set and oil.
Thermal or bearing temperature trip
Likely cause: worn bearings, asymmetric phase loading or voltage, running dry, or too many starts per hour. Action: check supply voltage and phase balance, start frequency and submergence, and replace bearings if the bearing sensor has tripped.
Vibration or strong start reaction
Likely cause: wrong direction of rotation, a damaged runner, an unsecured air pipe, or the unit not sitting level. Action: confirm rotation, replace a damaged runner, secure the air pipe against movement, and fit hinged feet on uneven floors.
Rags or debris in the hydraulics
Likely cause: fibrous solids or debris left in the tank before start-up. Action: clear the runner and stator ring, clean the tank and inflow channels, and check screens upstream are working.
