Service Intervals & When to Replace
- Routine inspection: Maximum interval of three months or 500 hours – check for leakage from the pump, pipework and valves, excess vibration or noise, and excessive heat. The ball bearings are sealed for life, so there is no routine lubrication.
- Bearings: Ball bearings are to be replaced after 50,000 operational hours, and replacement is recommended during any major overhaul.
- Impeller and seal: Replace the impeller if blades are damaged or it is below the minimum width or 155.75 mm diameter. The impeller floats on the shaft except on locked "L" variants, which use Section 6.2.
- O-rings and gaskets: All O-rings must be replaced whenever the pump is disassembled, and flange O-rings and gaskets cannot be reused once the pump is removed from the pipework.
- Returns for repair: Pumps sent to Ebsray for maintenance must be fully flushed out first. Always quote the pump serial number when ordering parts.

Troubleshooting
No liquid delivery
Likely cause: No drive to the shaft, a damaged coupling, closed valves, an empty supply tank, wrong rotation, a blocked strainer, inadequate NPSHA or vapour lock. Action: Check the driver, coupling, valves, tank level and rotation, clear the strainer and make sure the pump can prime free of vapour.
Reduced output
Likely cause: Incorrect driver speed, restricted inlet or discharge piping, a blocked strainer, an external bypass set too low, or end of service life. Action: Correct the speed, clear restrictions and reset the bypass, then check the impeller against the minimum width (21.70 mm R75/R80, 24.70 mm R77/R82) and 155.75 mm outside diameter.
Leakage from the pump
Likely cause: Seals incorrectly installed, dry running, nicked or twisted O-rings or O-rings unsuited to the liquid, a worn shaft in the seal zone, misalignment, damaged seal faces, loose fasteners or trapped thermal expansion. Action: Replace the mechanical seal and all O-rings, tighten fasteners to the Table 1 torques, realign, and stop product being locked between valves either side of the pump.
Excessive power consumption or noise
Likely cause: Foreign matter jamming parts or in the discharge line, a collapsed or kinked hose, operation away from design pressure, viscosity, temperature or speed, misalignment, or worn parts. Action: Clear the foreign matter, restore design conditions and alignment, and replace worn parts.
