Service Intervals & When to Replace
- Vane wear limits: V40 standard vane height is 45.70–46.00 mm with a recommended maximum wear of 4.0 mm (total vane clearance 0.30–0.40 mm). V30 standard vane height is 35.8–35.81 mm with a maximum wear of 4.0 mm (total vane clearance 0.15–0.20 mm).
- Changing vanes (V40): Vanes can be changed through the inspection end. Remove and replace the upper vanes first, one at a time, turning the shaft by hand – taking lower vanes out first lets the pushrods drop into the liner ports.
- Mechanical seals: Two balanced mechanical seals isolate the bearings, backed by lip seals and drain holes. Inspect both seals at overhaul, replace worn or damaged parts, and protect the lapped faces during handling.
- Rotor, liner and bearings: If the rotor/shaft or liner shows damage or excessive wear, replace both. Replace both bearings on major overhauls and replace all O-rings and lip seals at every overhaul.
- Operation: No in-service lubrication is required on the V40. Inspect frequently during the first few hours of running for hot bearings, vibration or unusual noise.

Troubleshooting
Failure to deliver liquid
Likely cause: Wrong rotation, a blocked or air-leaking suction strainer, liquid too viscous, an empty tank, high static discharge with air in the suction pipe, closed valves, or excess internal clearances. Action: Correct the rotation, clear the strainer and air leaks, open the valves, and check vane and liner clearances against the IOM table.
Low output
Likely cause: Low pump speed, cavitation, obstructed or leaking suction or discharge pipes, a bypass setting that is too low, or worn pump parts. Action: Restore speed and suction conditions and raise the bypass setting (without exceeding system design pressure or overloading the driver). Recondition or replace worn parts.
Excessive power consumption
Likely cause: An obstructed discharge line, operation outside the duty point (high pressure or viscosity), binding rotating parts, misalignment, pipe stresses distorting the casing, or worn bearings. Action: Clear the discharge, return to the duty point, realign, and fix pipe stresses before reassembling.
Mechanical seal leakage
Likely cause: Product at the six o’clock drain holes shows the seals are worn, damaged or wrongly fitted, or there is misalignment, a worn shaft in the seal zone, or excess system pressure. Action: Replace the mechanical seals, realign the coupling, replace the rotor/shaft if the seal zone is worn, and check for discharge obstructions and trapped thermal expansion.
